Hip-hop is Foundational Black American Culture, along with The Game, and most sports. Country music & rock music is also part of our culture. It makes me laugh when I saw tweets from non-FBA blacks saying we don’t know our own culture or what it is, but, they’re trying to claim & take credit for something that’s ours despite not even having the equipment to produce music as complex as hip-hop beats.Â
Hip-hop is documented as having started in the 70s & Kool Herc among others are credited as founding fathers or pioneers. Non-FBA Blacks claim that reggae-influenced hip-hop, but hip-hop is more than 90% African American & less than 5% Caribbean, and the less than 5% we already influenced.
Rap and hip-hop are defined as syncopated rhyming over a drum beat.
Some want to argue that all the music I mentioned comes from Africa & that break dances comes from Brazilian capoeira which comes from Congo. Blues, jazz etc. the sound was all created in Africa and brought to the US and Caribbean. But, there was no contact between the 1980s Blacks & Brazilians. There’s no evidence suggesting mass migration around the 70s either.
I like how on the internet you can provide actual facts, proof (like the video) with a timestamp, actual documentation, and when you ask for evidence in a debate, you’re accused of being anti-black-immigrant. Foundational Black Americans created hip-hop, the most influential form of expression to ever exist.
Jamaicans did not invent rap, nor did they significantly contribute to the development of African-American music in comparison to us being the main inspirations for ska and reggae. Hip hop is 98% AA and maybe 2% “Caribbean “that 2% Caribbean influence was already influenced by AA music.

We know they had immigrant backgrounds, hip-hop was still created by African Americans.Â
The first recording studio in jamaica was opened in 1947.

The first dancehalls were started because the average person there wasn’t trying to buy a turntable to listen to music.
The first dual turntable setup was NOT used by Jimmy Savile in 1948, it was advertised in a magazine….in the late 20s.
Most of the TECH is AMERICAN.
Advanced tech = advanced techniques being executed.
Nobody “found anything new” and brought it here.

But, it wasn’t created by Herc, it was here before he got here, long before he got here.
HE SURE FOUND SOME EQUIPMENT IN MIAMI….AND FOUND SOME MORE IN CALIFORNIA. LET’S HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY FROM HIS OWN MOUTH.
